Lore

Thresh is a sadistic, spectral reaper who relishes tormenting the living and the dead. Once a jailer who mercilessly brutalized all under his charge, Thresh was hanged from his own chains by the prisoners he had tortured. With his vicious essence unbound, the Chain Warden roams Runeterra in search of prey. He derives twisted joy from slowly breaking the minds of his most defiant victims, before trapping their souls within the sickly green light of his lantern.

Tips

Playing as

  • Communication is key when making use of Thresh's lantern. Let your teammates know how you like to use it.
  • Death Sentence and Flay can be combined in either cast order for powerful combinations.
  • Thresh can collect souls without needing to kill units himself. Planning your map position to be near the most deaths will help to maximize soul collection.

Playing against

  • Thresh's Death Sentence has a long cast time. Watch for the cast to begin to take evasive actions.
  • Intentionally breaking a wall of The Box can allow a vulnerable ally to escape unscathed.
  • Thresh relies on collecting souls for a portion of his defense and damage. Try punishing him when he moves to collect them.

Lore
Thresh is a twisted reaper whose hungry chains ensnare the souls of the living. A moment's hesitation at the sight of his ghostly visage and there is no escape. He leaves in his wake hollow corpses, their souls ripped loose and trapped in the sickly green light of his lantern. The Chain Warden takes sadistic joy in tormenting his victims, both before and after their deaths. His grim task is never complete, and he stalks the land for ever more resolute spirits to unravel. Thresh carves careful, deliberate paths through Valoran. He handpicks his targets individually, devoting his full attention to each soul in turn. He isolates and toys with them, gradually eroding their sanity with his twisted, maddening humor. Once Thresh takes an interest in a soul, he does not relent until he possesses it. He then drags those he captures back to the Shadow Isles for an unimaginably dreadful fate. This is his onlyspectral purpose.
